Imagine creating a business from reselling stuff that others no longer wanted? That’s exactly what Clara Albornoz and Amanda Morse, Co-Founders of List Perfectly, did with their business. They were on track to making $500,000 when List Perfectly was born from Clara’s arthritis preventing her from being able to post on social media.
Amanda then built a software platform to support her friend Clara and make it easier for Clara to post her listings. They created a solution to make it easier and faster to list across multiple platforms and resellers needed a software to push their business forward.
Having created this successful and efficient solution for their own business needs, Clara and Amanda created a new business model to sell memberships to help resellers list their items. They offer three different tiered plans to subscribers monthly.
Resale and e-commerce have helped so many people through the pandemic and Amanda and Clara feel they are helping change lives through helping others make an income online. Their social mission is to reach as many resellers as possible and help them list their items and grow their businesses.
Clara came from a banking background and knew the long road of raising capital would take, so the ladies decided to invest that time and money into the product instead. Determined to bootstrap their expenses List Perfectly was built without paid advertising or investors.
The duo wanted to learn from their mistakes as they grew their business and create their own path. They listened to customer feedback and implemented the suggestions that their customers were offering. The company has always been customer centric and placed the utmost importance on the feedback they received from their customers. They believe this is how they were able to grow their business successfully.
Amanda and Clara share their business lessons with you:
Remain positive and surround yourself with support
Go with what you know
Starting a business is challenging, and it is important to be an expert in your area to grow that business. It’s hard enough learning how to build and grow a business without having to learn what you are offering as well.
Don’t chase the money
Amanda told Clara to do something they love and everything else will fall into place; when she chased relationships instead of customers the rest starts building off it
Don’t be afraid to go at it alone
The idea of having investors may feel safer to you, but don’t be scared to strike it on your own. The rewards are greater when you do it on your own. Don’t let a lack of investment be the reason why you choose not to go for it.
The bottom line is List Perfectly was started out of a pain point that needed a solution and grew into a company that put customers first and valued feedback from them. There were many bumps in the road and the path to success veered off course many times. The duo hung in there, learned their lessons and built a successful business. You can too.
