eBay Final Value Fees
But what about the ending or sold item fees? eBay calls these fees Final Value Fees. As a reseller, I base my “projected” profit margin on a 15% eBay fee structure. Give or take a few; the fees can be more or less.
The primary thing to remember is that eBay will charge 30 cents per item plus a percentage of the item sold. The percentage is based on each category. There is no one-size-fits-all regarding final value fees.
The final sale price also includes any other charges sellers charged the buyer, like shipping and handling fees. Sales tax is also included in those fees. Once you have the total, you must review eBay’s chart showing the percentage by category.
Review monthly fees
Looking at your monthly fees can be helpful with future listings. Reviewing the fees you’ve been charged can help with future sourcing decisions and promotions to use. One thing I find helpful, is that a few items I had on “Good Till Cancelled” settings included an additional fee for international UK exposure. Since I had no sales and little activity, I decided to revise my listings and remove that option before the next billing cycle.
Look at the monthly vs. the daily or weekly fees. Stressing about losing a few dollars on a few items is not worth it. Looking at the big picture is what matters—the total.
To find your fee report, visit your eBay Seller Hub. On the hub, click the “Payments” tab. Once you are on the payments page, click “All Transactions.” Now you can view all the transactions taking place on your selling account. This page will also show if you have any holds on items and if any items are still processing.
No one likes paying fees
The bottom line, no one likes paying fees; it is part of doing business. The fees are a minimal price to be part of one of the world’s largest online marketplaces.
Do your best to keep the fees low and the profits high!
