If you have a smaller following on YouTube, there have been some recent changes to YouTube that make it easier to monetize the content you generate for YouTube.  This is great news and even better news if you are a List Perfectly referral member. This means that you can spread the word of List Perfectly on your YouTube channel, generate referrals and also receive income from YouTube.

The YouTube Partner Program (YPP)

The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) lets qualifying YouTube creators tap into different ways to earn revenue on YouTube.  A creator can generate live streams, long-form videos, or even Shorts (which are videos in a vertical format that are a maximum of 60 seconds in length).

The new requirements for monetization mean creators need to have 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days and either have 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

These new requirements allow smaller content creators to generate income from fan funding.  Fan funding income can come from memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks.  These new requirements are rolling out to the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom as well.

Rules for Monetization on YouTube

The rules for monetization through ad revenue on YouTube remain the same, however. To earn ad revenue (as opposed to fan funding mentioned above), you need a minimum of 1,000 subscribers with 4,000 watch hours within the past year or 10 million public Shorts views within the past 90 days.  One advantage of applying to YPP as a smaller channel is that creators who apply for early access to fan funding will not need to reapply when they qualify for full monetization.

Revenue from advertising is the primary way content creators can earn money on YouTube, as this type of revenue is generated when people watch ads that are shown during a YouTube video. Revenue from these ads is shared between YouTube and the content creator, so creators directly profit from the videos that they make.  Once you grow your channel large enough, you can take advantage of this ad revenue.

The new, three video upload per 90 days requirement is especially helpful for those video creators who don’t have enough material to produce multiple videos during a certain time period, regardless of accumulating millions of views.

If you reach the newly established thresholds, you can apply to become part of YPP and get access to tools, subscriptions, creator support, and the ability to promote your own merchandise.

How the rules benefit List Perfectly referral members

These new rules can benefit List Perfectly referral members because those with smaller channels can create content about List Perfectly and include their referral links.  This helps get the word out about how great List Perfectly is while also giving referral members the chance to share their referral links.

Once you create content and include your List Perfectly referral link, you can generate more referral income.  In the process, you can also generate fan funding and grow your YouTube channel.  Eventually, if you create enough growth on your channel, you can also start receiving ad revenue for the content you create.  It’s a win-win for everyone involved since all of these streams of revenue can bring in exponential income.

For many YouTube content creators, revenue from ads is the most sustainable form of monetization because you don’t need to ask the community to support you financially.  However, fan funding is a great way to get your foot in the door and these new rules open that door for smaller channels to get in on the earning potential of YouTube.
