A $1,000 Vintage Clothing Flip
Every reseller dreams of finding the kind of inventory opportunity that can change the direction of their business. For Gina, that opportunity came through a local cleanout connection and turned into more than 25,000 pieces of vintage clothing, most still with original tags, for about $1,000.
That is roughly $0.25 per piece.
In this interview, I sat down with Gina to talk about how the deal happened, why she took the risk, how the inventory is selling, and what her listing process looks like now. Gina sells vintage clothing on eBay, Poshmark, Etsy, and Vinted, and her story is a great reminder that big reseller opportunities are not always about luck.
Sometimes they come from relationships, asking one more question, understanding cost per piece, and being ready to act when the right flip shows up.

How the Big Inventory Score Happened
Gina did not walk into this opportunity expecting to buy 25,000 pieces of vintage clothing. She saw a post from a local cleanout business saying they had clothing available, and because she knew the people behind the cleanout from her restaurant years, she went to see what they had.
At first, she was thinking like many resellers think: this could be inventory to list.
Then she saw the condition, the volume, and the original tags.
The real turning point came when she went back a second day and asked what they planned to do with the rest of the clothing. That one question opened the door. Instead of taking home a few bags, Gina ended up with more than 400 contractor bags of vintage clothing delivered to her house.
That is the part resellers should pay attention to. She did not just “get lucky.” She had a relationship, she showed up, she asked the right question, and she was willing to take a calculated risk.
Why Cost Per Piece Matters in a Flip
For resellers, cost per piece can change the whole risk of a buy.
Gina paid about $1,000 for more than 25,000 pieces, which brought the cost to roughly $0.25 per piece. At that number, even a modest sale can create a strong return.
That does not mean a big flip is easy. A large inventory buy still takes space, storage, photos, measurements, listings, shipping, and time. Gina even had to invest in extra storage because of the volume.
But a low cost per piece gives a reseller room to learn, test, list, and get money back.
That is one of the strongest takeaways from Gina’s story. A good flip is not only about the total price. It is about the cost per piece, resale potential, storage, listing time, and whether you can actually move the inventory into active listings.
New-With-Tags, NOS, and Deadstock Vintage
A big reason this flip had strong resale potential was condition. Most of Gina’s vintage clothing still had original tags.
In vintage reselling, sellers may call this new-with-tags vintage, NOS, or deadstock. NOS usually means “new old stock,” and deadstock vintage usually refers to older inventory that was never worn or sold to the final customer.
For buyers, that can matter.
Original tags can help show brand, era, fabric, original retail price, and condition. Gina’s inventory includes pieces from the 1970s through the early 2000s, with a lot from the 1980s and 1990s.
That is also what makes the story bigger than clothing. Resellers in any category can learn from this: condition, demand, cost per piece, and access to inventory can turn a regular sourcing moment into a much bigger opportunity.
Vintage Measurements, Keywords, and Marketplace Fit
Vintage clothing needs the right listing details.
Gina learned quickly that vintage sizing does not match modern sizing. A vintage size 8 may not fit like a modern size 8, so measurements are important for helping buyers understand fit and reducing confusion.
Keywords matter too. Vintage buyers may search by era, aesthetic, fabric, brand, style, color, and fit. Gina uses Listing Assistant AI, prompt templates, listing templates, and style-focused keywords to help create stronger listings for vintage clothing.
Marketplace fit also matters. Gina sells on eBay, Poshmark, Etsy, and Vinted, and each marketplace can bring a different type of buyer. That is why crosslisting is so powerful for resellers. The same item may need more than one marketplace to find the right buyer.
Turning a Big Flip Into Active Listings
A big inventory score only matters if it becomes active listings.
Gina’s process is simple: if she touches it, she lists it.
With this much inventory, over-sorting every piece by season, category, fabric, or style could slow her down. Her process keeps the inventory moving.
That does not mean every reseller needs to list the same way. Some resellers list by category. Some list seasonally. Some batch similar items together. The point is to build a process that fits your inventory, your time, and your goals.
Gina uses List Perfectly tools like Listing Assistant AI, templates, Pro Plus features, sub-accounts, inventory labels, QR codes, pick lists, and Bundle Mode to support her workflow. Bundle Mode has been especially helpful for grouping photos by item and listing faster, which matters when working with mixed vintage inventory.
How List Perfectly Helps Resellers List Faster and Crosslist
Gina started with List Perfectly in January 2024 after finding it through Becky Park. She began on the Simple plan and later moved to Pro Plus as her reselling business grew.
Today, List Perfectly is part of her daily process.
List Perfectly helps resellers create listings, organize inventory, use Listing Assistant AI, and crosslist to multiple marketplaces. For Gina, that means getting her vintage inventory in front of more buyers on eBay, Poshmark, Etsy, and Vinted.
Gina also attends Listing Party Mastermind with Trish Glenn, where resellers learn from each other, ask questions, improve their processes, and stay consistent. Reselling online can feel lonely, and Gina’s story shows how much faster sellers can grow when they have both tools and community.

FAQ
How much did the vintage clothing flip cost?
Gina shared that she paid about $1,000 for more than 25,000 pieces of vintage clothing, which came out to roughly $0.25 per piece.
What does NOS mean in vintage clothing?
NOS means “new old stock.” In vintage clothing, it usually refers to older inventory that was never worn or sold to the final customer and may still have original tags.
What does deadstock vintage mean?
Deadstock vintage usually means older inventory that was never used, worn, or sold to the final customer. For clothing resellers, deadstock can be valuable because the item may have original tags and stronger condition.
Why are measurements important when selling vintage clothing?
Vintage sizing is different from modern sizing. Measurements help buyers understand the real fit of the item and can help reduce questions and returns.
How can resellers find better inventory opportunities?
Better inventory opportunities often come from relationships, local connections, cleanout companies, estate sale contacts, referrals, and being known as a reseller. Gina’s story shows the power of asking questions and being ready when the right opportunity appears.
How can List Perfectly help resellers list faster and crosslist?
List Perfectly helps resellers create listings, organize inventory, use Listing Assistant AI, manage templates, group photos with Bundle Mode, and crosslist to multiple marketplaces so items can reach more buyers.
